10th ANNUAL MAXEY CLASSIC CAR SHOW
Anniversary Show Draws Record Crowds
The 10th Maxey Classic and Thoroughbred Car, Motorcycle and 4x4 Show was held on Saturday 13 August 2011 at its regular venue at end of Quarry Lane, Maxey - kindly lent to the Maxey Charity Club by local land owners Tony and Sue Crowson.
Despite the sky seeming to threaten rain, entrants started to arrive as early as 8.30 am and by midday there were nearly 200 vehicles on show. The show had something for everyone. There was a fantastic array of beautiful cherished cars and motorcycles, ranging from pre-war to modern 4x4s, music from local live bands, Hybrid and The Collaborators, side stalls and children’s entertainment.
After the awards ceremony, the work of the Show Organisers (Maxey Charity Club) was highlighted when Karen Maxwell (a Maxey resident) was presented with a cheque for £1,000.00 towards her son Tyler’s fund. She needs to raise £40,000 for him to have an operation to enable him to walk.
The show date to put in your diaries for next year is: Saturday 11 August 2012
“Despite the weather forecast not being particularly good, we were amazed at the numbers of people who brought along their vehicles. When the sun began to shine in the afternoon we had more visitors than ever before coming through the gates. This is the best year by far with £2,500 being raised for the Charity Club’s coffers. Thanks go to all our helpers and sponsors who freely give their time and money - without them the show wouldn’t happen” said Pat Summers, Maxey Charity Club Committee Member. |
